Huskies Come in Third at Penn State Tri-Meet

– The University of Connecticut men’s swimming and diving team concluded its tri-meet against Penn State and Princeton on Saturday, finishing the meet in third place with a final score of 681. The Nittany Lions were first (1,189.5) and the Tigers came in second (1,156.5).

Senior Greg Baliko (Fanwood, N.J.) swam to third-place in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.10) followed by freshman Mark Hunter (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa) in 58.13. Junior Chris Girg (Burbach, Germany) rounded out the top three in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:34:68.

The quartet of seniors Jeff Magin (Brookfield, Conn.), Ryan Walsh (Monroe, N.Y.) and Baliko along with junior James Donlevy (Lake Grove, N.Y.) came in third in the 400-yard medley relay (3:24.67) and 200-yard medley relay (1:33.24).

On Friday, senior John Brice (Bala Cynwood, Pa.) took third-place on the one-meter platform with 297.10 points and sophomore Jeffrey Aselin (Riverside, Conn.) claimed fourth (291.10). The following day, classmate Daniel Kinney (Middletown, Conn.) and Brice were second and third, respectively, in the three-meter.



UConn will get back in the water at the Bison Invitational on Nov. 20-22 in Lewisburg, Pa.
