STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut men's and women's swimming and diving teams each picked up a pair of wins over Brown and Laval on Saturday. The UConn men beat Brown 175-124 and topped Laval by a score of 200-93. The UConn women topped Brown 193-106 and defeated Laval 196.50-89.50.
The Brown men defeated Laval 172-115 while the Brown women defeated Laval 193-93.
The women were led by sophomore Caitlin Gallagher (Lawrence, Kansas), who won the three events -- the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.65, the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:21.39 and the 200-yard IM in 2:08.32.
Freshman Jordan Bowen (Lake Elmo, Minn.) won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:57.00 and the 1000-yard freestyle in 10:10.85.
Freshman Katie Dobler (Pittsford, N.Y.) won the 100-yard freestyle in 52.84 and the 200-yard freestyle in 1:52.83.
Freshman Mary DeMarrais (Bernardsville, N.J.) won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:06.72.
Freshman Danielle Cecco (Hicksville, N.Y.) won the one-meter diving with 245.25 points and the three-meters in 286.43.
On the men's side, senior Steve Ferreira (Madison, Conn.) won the one-meter diving with 317.09 points and the three-meters with 328.95.
Freshman Kyungsoo Yoon (Toronto, Ont.) won teh 50-yard freestyle in 21.13 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in 46.90.
Senior John Hogan (Walkersville, Md.) won the 100-yard butterfly in 51.05 seconds and the 200-yard butterfly in 1:51.97. Junior Tomacz Sobek (Siemianowice Slaskie, Poland) won the 100-yard breaststroke in 57.56 seconds and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:08.34.
UConn returns to action next weekend for its annual trip to College Park, Md., for the Terrapin Cup.
