Franz Enjoys Outstanding Day At Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. - University of Connecticut sophomore Sawyer Franz (Pine, Colo.) was seventh in the 1,650-yard freesytle a time of 15:59.88 and won the B final in the 200-yard backstroke as the men’s swimming and diving team concluded competition at the H2Okie Fall Invitational on Saturday.

Virginia Tech won the event with 1,523 points while South Carolina was second with 1021.5 followed by UConn with 511 and Liberty with 467.5.

Senior Kyungsoo Yoon (Toronto, Ont.) was third in the 100-yard freestyle in 45.40 seconds and sophomore Lachezar Shumkov (Sofia, Bulgaria) was fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:03.46.

The Huskies return to action when member of the team travel to the USA Swimming Winter Nationals on November 29-30 and December 1 in Austin, Texas.
