COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Connecticut men's and women's swimming and diving teams each stand in second place after two days at the Terrapin Cup. Maryland leads the ten-team women's competition with 765 points while UConn is second with 493. In the eight-team men's competition, Maryland is first with 796 points while UConn is second with 644. The three-day events concludes on Saturday.

The Friday highlights for UConn was junior Alex Davidson (Pointe-Claire, Que.) setting a school record in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 48.78 seconds, which also gave him an NCAA B Cut performance.

Junior Tomas Sobek (Siemianowice Slaskie, Poland) posted a win the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 56.70.

Senior Stephen Ferreira (Madison, Conn.) won the one-meter diving with a score of 316.90.

The UConn men's 200-yard medley relay team set a school record with a 1:31.03. That team was composed of Davidson, Sobek, senior John Hogan (Walkersville, Md.) and freshman Kyungsoo Yoon (Toronto, Ont.).

Sophomore Caitlin Gallagher (Lawrence, Kansas) won the 400-yard IM in 4:19.79 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:03.43.
