LEWISBURG, Pa. - The University of Connecticut men's swimming and diving team completed its three-day outing at the Bison Invitational, hosted by Bucknell University. The Huskies took third place at the event, totaling 1,020 points. The Bison also hosted Delaware, Fordham, Binghamton, Georgetown, William & Mary, Buffalo and La Salle.
Over the course of the meet, the Huskies placed in the top-three of 12 different events. Individually, junior Chris Girg (Burbach, Germany) swam to second in the 500-yard freestyle (4:28.58) and third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:39.82). Senior Jeff Magin (Brookfield, Conn.) touched the wall in 49.61 in the 100-yard backstroke for second-place and came in third in the 200-yard backstroke (1:48.37). Junior James Donlevy (Lake Grove, N.Y.) tied for third after swimming the 50-yard freestyle in 20.69.
Magin and Donlevy joined sophomore Daniel Krentsa (Brookfield, Conn.) and freshman Luke Martin (Richmond, Va.) for a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:22.64). Donlevy, Krentsa and Magin also swam with sophomore Kyle Kimura (Tampa, Fla.) in the 400-yard freestyle relay, coming in second with a time of 3:03.62. In the 800-yard freestyle relay, Girg, Kimura, Magin and Krentsa delivered a time of 6:43.62 for second place.
Seniors Greg Baliko (Fanwood, N.J.) and Ryan Walsh (Monroe, N.Y.) were paired with Magin and Donlvey for the 200-yard medley relay, completing the race in 1:31.62 to finish third. The quartet came in third in the 400-yard medley relay (3:21.29).
For the divers, senior John Brice (Bala Cynwood, Pa.) placed third in the three-meter platform with 322.00 points while sophomore Jeffrey Aselin (Riverside, Conn.) came in fourth after tallying 316.05 points. On the one-meter, Brice once again took third-place on 308.00 points while Aselin was eighth.
