SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (January 6, 2008) --- The University of Connecticut men's and women's swimming teams kicked off their annual two-week training trip on Monday in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The teams arrived at the hotel at on Monday at 1:30 a.m. local time and no time getting started with two workouts at two separate facilities. The morning session took place at a 50-meter pool in the Carolina section of San Juan, while the afternoon practice was held at the Olympic Natatorium of San Juan.
The natatorium, the finest swimming and diving facility in the Caribbean, includes a ten-lane 50-meter pool along with a separate eight-lane 25-meter pool equipped with a ten-meter diving tower.
In addition, the natatorium provides the Huskies with an expansive weight room and an underwater sound system. UConn will be training in San Juan for the next two weeks with an eye on the BIG EAST Conference Championship and the NCAA Championship later in the season.
