STORRS, Conn. - University of Connecticut senior swimmer Jeff Magin (Brookfield, Conn.) has earned the Huskies’ first swimming honor of the season after being named the American Athletic Conference’s Male Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

Magin, the two-time All-Conference Team member, tallied two wins this past weekend during UConn’s annual trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico for the Copa Coqui Invitational. The tri-captain swam to a first-place finish in the 200-medley relay in 1:50.48. He also joined the 200-freestyle relay team for another victory, this time swimming the race in 1:38.70. Individually, Magin touched the wall in 1:00.41 to check in second in the 100-backstroke. The Huskies captured the invitational title as the men’s and women’s teams combined for a team score of 88 points.

Magin and UConn are back in action on Jan. 24 on the road against Seton Hall for a dual meet. Competition is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
