EAST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Connecticut men’s swimming and diving team spent time on Monday at East Hartford Middle School, where they talked to the students about what it takes to be successful in and out of the classroom. Their visit was part of the Goal Line Program, an organization designed to help young students prepare for the future.
The Huskies offered several pieces of advice to the EHMS students, discussing what it means to be a team member and the importance of being an active participant in the community. The students in attendance on Monday will also have chances to visit the UConn campus throughout the year.
“It is our hope that through the Goal Line program, these students will be motivated to pursue a college education,” UConn senior swimmer Sawyer Franz said.
Earlier this year, both the Connecticut men’s and women’s swimming teams participated in the annual Husky Reach BBQ Kickoff. Athletes from several UConn teams took time to get to know elementary school kids and play games outside with them.
The Huskies return to action on Friday, Nov. 21 for the start of the Louisville Invitational. The meet runs through Sunday and features races throughout each of the three days.
