STORRS, Conn. - The men's and women's swimming travel to Indianapolis, Ind. this weekend for the House of Champions from Friday, Nov. 17 through Sunday, Nov. 19 while the diving team competes in the Frank Elm Invitational in New Brunswick, N.J over the three-day stretch.
The Huskies are off to a strong start this season with the women's team holding a 5-0 record in dual meets this season while the men's side is 3-1. Both events this weekend provide a mid-season championship atmosphere with the diving portion featured at the home of the 2018 NCAA Zone A Championships in March.
For the women, sophomore Eliza Manning and senior Emma Smith have led the way for the Huskies in the freestyle events. Manning secured wins in the 50 and 100 Free last weekend vs. Army while Smith showed continued success in the long distance events, 500 and 1000 Free.
Junior Julie Hu (Breaststroke) and freshman Georgia Apostolu (backstroke) have started the season with impressive results that has seen both swimmers score multiple victories in their respective events.
Sophomore Will Kearsey (Backstroke), Mark Hunter (Breaststroke) and Kyle Kimura (Butterfly, Freestyle) have all earned early season accomplishments with each capturing numerous individual wins in the opening month.
Freshman Joshua Wroblewski has shown promise in his first season in Storrs, notching multiple victories of his own, including a win last weekend vs. Army in the 500 Free.
The diving team carries momentum into this weekend's meet with junior Dan Kinney and freshman Erin Clifford each winning the 1M and 3M competitions during the Army meet last weekend. Kinney met NCAA standards in the 1-meter dive to secure a spot in the NCAA Zones.
