LEWISBURG, Pa. – The University of Connecticut men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams return to action this weekend at the Bison Invitational. The three-day event kicks off on Friday, Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. in the Kinney Natatorium on the campus of Bucknell University.
Both squads came in third last weekend at a tri-meet with Penn State and Princeton. The Huskies are set to compete against Binghamton, Buffalo, Georgetown, La Salle, William & Mary and meet host Bucknell. The preliminaries will begin at 10 a.m. on each day. Finals will start at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and move to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

At Penn State, freshman swimmer Jackie Van Lew (Tinton Falls, N.J.) touched the wall first in the 100 and 200-yard freestyles while senior diver Taryn Urbanus (Quincy, Mass.) swept the field in the one-meter and three-meter finals.
Junior Sophie Nothnagle (Victor, N.Y.) won the 200-yard butterfly by swimming the event in a time of 2:03.34. Freshman swimmer Annika Grewal (Oakville, Ontario) placed second in the 200-yard backstroke and senior Laura Ruttan (Stittsville, Ontario) came in second in the 200-yard breaststroke.
For the men, senior Greg Baliko (Fanwood, N.J.) swam to third-place in the 100-yard breaststroke. Baliko joined classmates Jeff Magin (Brookfield, Conn.), Ryan Walsh (Monroe, N.Y.) and junior James Donlevy (Lake Grove, N.Y.) to take third in the 400 and 200-yard medley relays.
Senior diver John Brice (Bala Cynwood, Pa.) finished third on the one-meter platform. Sophomore Daniel Kinney (Middletown, Conn.) and Brice were second and third, respectively, on the three-meter.
The women’s team is 0-1 on the season while the men are 1-0 so far.
