Valor Set to lead the Huskies in 2017-18
University of Connecticut Director of Athletics David Benedict announced the hiring of Reinaldo Valor as the new Head Men’s Tennis Coach. Valor brings several years of coaching experience on the collegiate level to lead the Huskies.
“I'm elated to become the next head men's tennis coach for the Huskies,” stated Valor. “We have a talented group of young men and are looking forward to improving upon last season’s success.”
“Moving forward my goal is to challenge these players to help take the program to new heights and continue the momentum with a strong recruiting class for 2018-19 season,” Valor said. “I would like to thank Athletic Director David Benedict and the entire interview committee for selecting me to lead this fine program. In addition, a special thanks to Director of Tennis Glenn Marshall for believing in my passion to improve the men's tennis program. “
Valor’s last head coaching stop was at the Savannah College of Art & Design where he served as the men’s and women’s head tennis coach from 2013 through 2016. After leading the SCAD women’s team to the semifinals of the NAIA National Championship, he was honored as the Wilson/ITA National Coach of the Year.

He took SCAD to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championship tournament in 2013, 2014 and 2015. During his tenure, he coached three NAIA All-Americans and 18 players who garnered all-conference accolades. While at the helm, he twice coached the NAIA No.1 nationally ranked player in 2013 and 2016.
Prior to his stop at Savannah College of Art & Design, Valor was the head men’s and women’s coach at the College of Coastal Georgia, where he was responsible for establishing both programs and assisted in the process of building at state of the art tennis facility. He helped lead both programs to top-25 national rankings in their first seasons of eligibility.
