FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The UConn men's tennis team lost a 4-3 battle with instate rival Fairfield University Friday afternoon. The Huskies fall to 2-14 with the loss.
The Stags opened the match by winning the doubles point. The two teams split the six singles matches with the Huskies getting wins at #4 through #6.
Freshman Justin Warren (Durham, N.C.) posted a three-set win at #4 over Anthony Caputo, 6-3, 6-7, and 10-8. Junior Arnaud Valentin (Ridgefield, Conn.) also earned a three-set victory, winning at #5 over Dylan Appel. Valentin won the first set 6-3, dropped the second 6-2 and won the match with a 7-5 victory in the third.
Freshman Hank Hill (Ponte Verde Beach, Fla.) won a straight-set victory at #6 over Gabriel Pamich, 6-2 and 6-4.
At #3, senior Zac McEntee (Yorba Linda, Calif.) lost a tough three-set battle with Jeffrey Rodgers, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.
The Huskies will head to California for their spring break trip and take on UC Riverside, Azusa Pacific and Point Loma Nazarene.
