Men's Tennis Falls to Sacred Heart 5-2

PUERTO RICO - The UConn men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Sacred Heart University in Puerto Rico earlier this week.

The Huskies took 2-of-3 in doubles' play as Scott Warden and Andrew Marcus defeated Chris Ujkic and Kirill Kasyanov 8-3 in No. 1 doubles, while teammates Wei Lin and Ricardo Cardona edged Nick Mazzarese and Jacob Miller 9-7 in No. 3 doubles.

Sacred Heart was able to take five of the six singles matches to secure the team match victory and improve to 4-4 on the year. Scott Warden was the only Husky to win his singles match as he defeated Ujkic 6-3, 6-0 in No. 2 singles.

Lin batted in No. 6 singles with Chadd Sullo but his comeback was halted as Sullo defeated the Husky 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

All of the singles' matches on the day were competitive as Jai Yoon fought to a close loss as Mazzarese defeated Yoon 6-2, 7-5. In No. 4 singles, Dave Adams dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision to Michael Syer, while in No. 5 singles, freshman Ryan Carr fell to Cole Conrad 7-5, 6-4. Marcus fell in No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-2 to Kasyanov.
