STORRS, Conn. - The UConn men's tennis squad dropped a tight match to Bryant, 5-2, on Tuesday in Storrs. The Huskies saw victories from Wei Lin and Dave Adams in singles play. The loss dropped UConn's spring record to 3-9.
The Huskies took No. 1 doubles, 8-7 (4) behind a terrific rally from senior Scott Warden and freshman Jacob Spreyer. With UConn's No. 1 tandem down, 5-0, the Huskies fought of several match points to rally for the victory.
Matt Burns and Ryan Carr's tremendous effort at No. 3 fell just short, 9-8 (4). The Huskies had one match point but failed to hold on and Bryant took the doubles point with a victory at No. 2 over Dave Adams and Wei Lin, 8-2.
Adams opened singles action to with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 3 to even the team score at 1-1. Wei Lin followed suit with a victory at No. 4, 7-5, 6-0. Bryant evened the team score yet again when Ryan Carr dropped his match in straight sets at No. 5, 6-3, 6-4.
Joshua Palmer fell at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-5. Warden and Spreyer split their sets to open the matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Both players would drop the third set, finalizing the team score at 5-2 in favor of Bryant.
