Huskies Win On Senior Day, 4-2, Over Villanova

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn men's tennis team closed out their regular season on Saturday winning their fourth-straight match with a 4-2 victory over Villanova on "Senior Day" on the UConn Tennis Courts.  The Huskies will move on to the American Athletic Conference Championship in two weeks.

The Huskies honored their three seniors before Saturday's match in Andrew Ginzberg (Woodbridge, Conn.), Zac McEntee (Yorba Linda, Calif.) and Jacob Spreyer (Denver, Colo.). 

UConn opened their match by taking the doubles point.  The freshmen tandem of Hank Hill (Ponte Verde Beach, Fla.) and Justin Warren (Durham, N.C.) posted a 6-3 win over Matt Phelps and Thomas Dodson at #3.  Spreyer and junior Christopher Toner (South Hamilton, Mass.) clinched the point with a 7-6 win at #1 over Chris Seitz and Bradley Noyes.

In singles, Toner and Hill both picked up wins to finish as double winners for the Huskies.  Toner posted a 6-4, 6-4 win at #2 over Noyes while Hill won his #6 match with Alasair Hurry in three sets 6-1, 3-6, 6-1.

Junior Arnaud Valentin (Ridgefield, Conn.) clinched the victory for the Huskies with a three-set victory at #5.  Valentin beat Jimmy Purdy, 6-4, 3-6 and 6-2. 

The Huskies will travel to the University of Memphis for the AAC Championship from April 21st through the 24th.
