VILLANOVA, Pa. - The underclassmen of the University of Connecticut men's tennis team were instrumental in a 4-3 victory at Villanova on Sunday. A trio of sophomores as well as junior Andrew Marcus (Potomac, Md.) won the match in singles play after trailing early in the Huskies first BIG EAST win of the season.
Marcus improved to 7-5 from the top spot in singles play with a two-set victory over Alex Leeser. Sophomores Jai Yoon (Bayside, N.Y.), Scott Warden (Boardman, Ohio) and Dave Adams (Andover, Mass.) rounded out the UConn victories at Villanova. Each won their respective matches in two sets with Warden and Adams coming out on the favorable end of tiebreaker decisions.
Yoon and Adams combined for the lone highlight of the doubles portion against the Wildcats with their seventh victory from No. 2.
The Huskies with a 5-7 spring record and a 1-2 mark in BIG EAST play return to the courts when they host Marist on April 16 at 3 p.m.
