TAMPA, Fla. - The UConn men's tennis squad ended the 2012 season with a 4-1 defeat to Villanova in the opening round of the BIG EAST Championships held at USF in Tampa, Fla. The Huskies were seeded ninth while Villanova was tabbed s the No. 8 seed in the conference tournament.
UConn ends the 2012 spring season with a 3-10 record.
Senior Dave Adams ended his career with a five-match winning streak in singles play after earning the only point of the day for Connecticut with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 3.
After splitting the first two doubles matches, Villanova freshmen Tim Abbracciamento and Michael Rosengren teamed up for an 8-5 victory over UConn senior Scott Warden and freshman Jacob Spreyer to capture the doubles point for the Wildcats.
In singles action, Villanova's Thomas O'Brien came from behind after dropping the first set to clinch the match for Villanova, beating senior Scott Warden 1-6, 6-3, 7-5. Matt Colonnese and Mark Miller also earned victories for VU.
