Men's Tennis Competes At Brown Invitational

STORRS, Conn. - Warden and Spreyer, the only UConn squad to tally more than one victory, earned an 8-4 result in the opening match before falling to eventual champions Brown, 8-1. The duo turned around and defeated Colgate handily, 8-3.

Junior Wei Lin (Bayside, N.Y.) and sophomore Teddy Margules (New York, N.Y.) placed fourth in the Gray Draw with a 1-2 record. They defeated Colgate in the opening match, 8-5, but fell to two squads from Amherst in the remaining matches, 8-5, 8-6.

Senior Matt Burns (Middletown, N.Y.) and freshman Joshua Palmer (Dalton, Pa.) also placed fourth in their draw, defeating Colgate, 8-2, but falling in the next matches to Marist and Bryant by the same score.

The singles events saw Burns lead the Huskies with a fourth place finish in the Yellow Draw. Burns defeated Colgate but fell to Marist in the third place game, 6-2, 6-1.

Palmer took fifth in the Purple Draw with a 1-1 record. Palmer fell in the opener to Bryant, but earned a hard fought victory over Amherst by scores of 6-1, 2-6 (11-9).

The Huskies will compete Wednesday at home against Siena, beginning at 3 p.m. in Storrs.
