STORRS, Conn. - Andrew Marcus and Scott Warden are leading the UConn men's tennis team after day one at the UConn Invitational in Storrs, Conn. Marcus and Warden will face Quinnipiac's Brian Mikkelson and James Kwei in the A Doubles Championship on Saturday.
The UConn duo defeated Bucknell's Josh Katten and Evan Zimmer 8-1 to open up play on Friday before downing Seton Hall 8-5 and Bryant 8-3 to earn their way into the final match.
UConn's Matt Burns and Ryan Carr battled their way into the semifinal round of the B Doubles after defeating Holy Cross 8-1 and Bryant's Daniel Cournoyer and Chris Corrigan 8-3. The UConn pair eventually fell to Bucknell 8-7.
In B singles action, Dave Adams gave UConn a victory in his first singles match of the weekend as he defeated Holy Cross' Ryan Sullivan 6-2, 6-1 to advance to quarterfinal play. In D Singles, freshman Teddy Margules defeated Quinnipiac's Micah Bailey 6-4, 7-6, while teammate NicVisinski won his match over Hartford's Filip Miletic 6-4, 7-5.
The Huskies will continue play on Saturday morning as they host the UConn Invite this weekend in Storrs, Conn.
