Warden Wins A Singles for Huskies

STORRS, Conn. - UConn's Scott Warden won the singles' A flight championship on Sunday as he defeated Boston University's Josh Frieder 6-4 and 6-3 on the final day of the UConn Invitational.

On Saturday, Dave Adams defeated Bucknell's Evan Zimmer in the championship match of the B singles flight to continue UConn's success. Adams won the first set 7-5 before falling in the second set 2-6. He was able to secure the top finish by defeating Zimmer 10-7 in the final set.

In the Flight A doubles, UConn defeated Quinnipiac in a close 8-6 match for the final. The UConn duo of Andrew Marcus and Scott Warden led the Huskies to victory in the flight.



Warden defeated Bucknell's Kyle Rosen 6-4 and 6-2 to advance to the championship match of the flight A singles.

In D flight singles, freshman Teddy Margules won the final match by defeating Quinnipiac's Nelson 6-0 and 6-3.

"I am extremely pleased with the effort of the team this weekend," said Director of Tennis Glenn Marshall.  "To win three of the four singles flights, and one of the two doubles flights, is outstanding. Our eight singles players went an amazing 18-5 during the tournament."
