Warden Leads UConn After Day 1 of Bucknell Invite

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Scott Warden is leading the UConn men's tennis team after day one of the Bucknell Invitational on Friday. Warden defeated Evan Zimmer of Boston University 7-5, 6-3 to advance to the next round of the flight A singles on Saturday where he will face George Mason's Jorge Osuna.

Warden and teammate Andrew Marcus have advanced into the quarterfinals of the A doubles after the UConn duo defeated Colgate's Alec Goldstein and Lewis. In the opening round, Marcus and Warden earned a bye in competition.

In A doubles, Ryan Carr and Wei Lin downed Colgate's Ruslan Goussiatnikov 8-4 before falling to Fairleigh Dickinson's Ibrahim Shams and Peter Bernasek. Lin received a bye in the first round of B singles play and will face Yuri Gricheno of FDU on Saturday.

Ricardo Cardona fell short in B singles after he came from behind, rallying from a 6-1 loss to taking the second set 7-6. Cardona lost the third set 10-8 to Colgate's Bobby Berkowitz.

In C singles, Matt Burns downed Colgate's John Beam 3-6, 6-4, 10-4 after losing the first set. He will next face Guillermo Paiz from FDU, who defeated Devin Leonard from George Mason 6-0, 6-4.
