UConn's Jai Yoon Advances at ITA Regional Tournament

HANOVER, N.H. - Sophomore Jai Yoon (Bayside, N.Y.) advanced to the round of 64 at the ITA Regional Tournament hosted by Dartmouth College on Saturday. Yoon paired with classmate Dave Adams (Andover, Mass.) for a win in the first round of doubles as well.

Yoon defeated Colgate's John Nogueras in straight sets for his first win of the tournament (6-1, 6-1). Together with Adams, the UConn duo won an 8-3 decision over Luis Guevara and Oscar Yanez from St. Bonaventure to advance to the round of 32 in doubles action. The Huskies fell to a pair from Binghamton as Evan Algier and Alexandre Haggai narrowly edged Adams and Yoon, 8-6.

Senior Joe Goldstein (Tucson, Ariz.) fell 6-4, 6-0 in his match against Princeton's Charlie Brosens in the first round of 128 competitors at the tournament.

Yoon is schedule to play Halvar Dil from Stony Brook at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
