FLUSHING, N.Y. - The UConn men's tennis program competed at the ITA Regional Championship this week at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. The Huskies sent senior Jacob Spreyer (Denver, Colo.) and sophomore Christopher Toner (South Hamilton, Mass.) to the event.
On Thursday, Toner competed in the singles qualifying draw, consisting of two rounds. Toner opened with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Yale's Photos Photiades but fell in his second match to Grant Solomon from Harvard, 6-2 and 6-1.
On Friday, Speyer lost his opening match in the main draw, falling to Princeton's Dan Richardson 6-0 and 7-6. Spreyer and Toner also played in the main doubles draw, falling to Harvard's Sebastian Beltrame and Solomon in their opening match, 8-6.
The Huskies will wrap up their falls schedule next Saturday and Sunday playing in the annual Connecticut State Championship tournament at Yale University.
