Men's Tennis Ends in Draw Against Sacred Heart in Shortened Match

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut tennis team saw its final home match of the fall season called due to darkness against Sacred Heart on Wednesday. The Huskies tied with the Pioneers 3-3 at the University of Connecticut Tennis Courts.

Sophomore Jai Yoon (Bayside, N.Y.) defeated Chris Ujkic at No. 1 singles after teaming with classmate Dave Adams (Andover, Mass.) for an 8-4 victory in first doubles. Seniors Tom Cook (Pittsford, N.Y.) and Joe Goldstein (Tucson, Ariz.) secured the doubles point with an 8-3 victory at No. 2.

"The team was lead by Yoon and Adams today," head coach Glenn Marshall. "They both played well in singles, and they teamed up for a good win at No. 1 doubles."

Adams won his match at third singles with two-set victory over Michael Syer.

Goldstein fell in a pair of 6-4 sets in second singles while sophomore Ricardo Cardona (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) fell 6-2, 6-4 in his fifth singles match to Chadd Sullo. Albert Christie defeated freshman Wei Lin (Bayside, N.Y.) at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 7-6.

Cook was leading the third set of his battle at No. 4 when the match was called due to darkness.

The Huskies conclude the fall season at the Connecticut State Championships in New Haven, Conn. on Oct. 30-Nov.1.
