STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut men's tennis team edged Quinnipiac 4-3 in dual match play in Storrs on Wednesday as freshman Teddy Margules clinched the team match victory with a win in his singles' match.
"A thrilling win for the boys today," said Director of Tennis Glenn Marshall. "We lost to them last year, so this was a great win today. We lost the doubles' point, but our singles' play was outstanding. Teddy clinched the team match victory, when the team score was tied."
With the team scores tied, Margules battled in a tough match, defeating Corey Morgenstern in a pair of 6-4 sets to seal the victory for the Huskies.
Andrew Marcus also led the Huskies with wins in both his singles and doubles' matches. Marcus battled Quinnipiac's Brian Mikkelson to a 6-4, 7-5 win in singles' competition before Marcus joined teammate Scott Warden in an 8-6 victory in doubles' play.
The Huskies will next compete at the Connecticut College Championships beginning on Oct. 29 at Yale University in New Haven, Conn.
