STORRS, Conn. – As the UConn men’s tennis program prepares for the start of the spring season, a pair of Huskies will open the second half of the year ranked in the Oracle/ITA Men’s Singles Top-125. The duo of senior Arnaud Valentin (Ridgefield, Conn.) and sophomore Justin Warren (Durham, N.C.) are the first in men’s program history to garner a ranking in the ITA singles poll.
Both Valentin and Warren came in tied for 115th overall in the ranking of top-125 singles players in college tennis.
"I'm very proud of the work our student-athletes put in on a daily basis," commented head coach Michael Louis. "Striving to excel in the classroom, athletics and in the community. This accomplishment by both Arnaud and Justin is proof of what this team can achieve. We are eager to build on this success."
The duo had impressive fall seasons for the Huskies, both posting matching 7-2 singles marks in combined dual matches and tournament play. The highlight of their fall campaigns was sharing the “B” Flight singles title at the Connecticut State Championship at Yale University. They both posted four-straight wins at the tournament to end up in the flight championship match to share the title.
Valentin and Warren will lead the Huskies as they open the spring season on January 28th when they travel to American Athletic Conference foe East Carolina.
