STORRS, Conn. - On Monday night, members of the University of Connecticut men's and women's tennis teams were honored during halftime of the UConn women's basketball game at Gampel Pavilion during the school's annual "3.0 Night", which recognizes student-athletes who earned at least a 3.0 grade point average in the fall 2014 semester or the spring 2014 semester.
Athletes were greeted by UConn President Susan Herbst, Director of Athletics Warde Manuel, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Mun Y. Choi, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Sally Reis, and members of the CPIA staff at center court during the 10-minute presentation.
The men's team was recognized as the team with the highest GPA of all UConn athletic programs for the second-straight semester. The Husky men posted a combined GPA of 3.476 and the women's team combined GPA was 3.33.
"I am extremely pleased with Coach Louis and the men's tennis team's outstanding achievement in the classroom," stated Director of Tennis Glenn Marshall. "To be recognized as the team with the highest GPA for the fall semester, it shows how well the players have been able to balance their studies with their tennis."
