STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut men's tennis team defeated Salve Regina 7-0 at home on Tuesday afternoon. The Huskies swept the Seahawks denying the visiting team the opportunity to win a single set at the University of Connecticut Tennis Courts.
"Although this was our first dual match of the season, the team was extremely focused today," head coach Glenn Marshall said. "We set the tone early with very solid doubles play in all three positions."
The duo of senior Joey Michaels (Rochester Hills, Mich.) and freshman Scott Warden (Boardman, Ohio) combined for an 8-0 win at second doubles. Junior Joe Goldstein (Tucson, Ariz.) and sophomore Andrew Marcus (Potomac, Md.) took an 8-3 decision at No. 1 doubles while junior Tom Cook (Pittsford, N.Y.) and freshman Ricardo Cardona (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) won at No. 3 by an 8-2 margin.
