STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men’s tennis team will close out the fall portion of their schedule competing at the ITA Northeast Regional Championship tournament being hosted by Yale University. The tournament will run from Thursday through Tuesday, October 22nd through 27th.
The Huskies will send a pair of players to this year’s tournament in r-senior Jacob Spreyer (Denver, Colo.) and junior Christopher Toner (South Hamilton, Mass.). Both will see action in singles play and team together for doubles.
Spreyer will open play in the main singles draw, taking on Stony Brook’s Raphael Termat in the first round on Friday. Toner will play his first match in Thursday’s qualifying round looking for a pair of wins to advance into the main draw. He is set to take on Anthony Arocho of Brown.
The duo will play in the doubles main draw starting on Friday with a first round match-up against Coauti and Vives of Princeton scheduled. Toner and Spreyer have had a solid fall playing together, posting a 6-3 mark over two fall tournaments and three dual matches.
Toner and Spreyer advanced to the finals of the top doubles flight at the UConn Invitational, posting a 3-1 mark on the weekend.
