STORRS, Conn. - The spring schedules for both the University of Connecticut men's and women's tennis teams were announced on Monday. Each UConn squad will take on three different teams during its Spring Break trip to Orlando, Fla. this season while combined the teams will compete at times at the University of Connecticut Tennis Courts this spring.
Both teams travel together to West Point, N.Y. to start the season against Army and Stony Brook on Feb. 13 and 14. Following the season-opening stint, the women's tennis team will immediately start BIG EAST play with a pair of matches hosted by Cincinnati at the end of the month. The Huskies will face West Virginia (Feb. 26) and the Bearcats (Feb. 27) while the men's tennis team hosts UMBC on Feb. 27.
The Spring Break trip finds the men's tennis team will take on St. Cloud, Valparaiso and Northern Illinois during the week. In Orlando, Fla, the women's tennis team will face Illinois State, Bethel University and Liberty.
Men's tennis continues the season at Brown (March 20) and at Boston University (March 25) before hosting Marist on March 30. Women's tennis takes on intra-state rival Fairfield at 3 p.m. taking on its final non-conference opponent of the spring.
On April. 1, men's tennis will play at St. John's and a day later women's tennis will play at Seton Hall at 2 p.m. Men's tennis hosts Fairfield in its final non-conference match of the 2010 spring on April 7. Both teams face Georgetown and Villanova on the road on April 10 and 11, respectively.
Women's tennis hosts a pair of BIG EAST opponents in St. John's and Pittsburgh to close out the regular season on April 16 and April 18, respectively.
The men's tennis team will look to be one of the nine teams competing at the BIG EAST Championships hosted by Notre Dame on April 22-25. Women's tennis will vie for one of 12 spots in the tournament field.
