STORRS, Conn. - The UConn men's tennis program announced their schedule for the 2017 spring season with seven home matches highlighting the slate. The Huskies will travel to Lake Nona, Florida for this year's American Athletic Conference Championships at the USTA National Campus.
The Huskies will begin their spring schedule on January 28th with a trip to AAC opponent East Carolina. UConn will take on St. John's, at a site to be announced and then play two matches in West Point, N.Y. on February 10th and 11th, facing Army and Buffalo. From there they will head to Lafayette, AAC foe Temple and Brown to close out February.
The month of March opens with a pair of home indoor matches at the East Hartford Tennis Club against state rival Fairfield on March 2nd and Siena on March 4th. The Huskies went 1-1 in dual matches in the fall playing state opponents, beating Sacred Heart, 6-1, and falling to Quinnipiac, 5-2.
The annual spring trip will take the Huskies to Boca Raton, Florida where they will face Florida Atlantic and George Washington with more matches to be scheduled. When the Huskies return home to Connecticut they will play five-straight home matches on their Storrs campus courts to prepare for the conference championship tournament.
The Huskies welcome Hofstra to Storrs on March 26th, Boston University on April 1st, Bryant on April 2nd, Villanova on April 8th and St. Francis Brooklyn on April 15th for "Senior Day"
The AAC will host its annual championship event for the brand new USTA National Campus, the new Home of American Tennis. The state of the art complex features 100 tennis courts and will serve as the home of the UCF tennis program. It is the home base for USTA Player Development and the USTA's Community Tennis division.
