STORRS, Conn. - The UConn men's and women's tennis programs may have closed out the first semester on the courts, but the Huskies continue to volunteer their time with local youth organizations. Most recently, the two programs spent afternoons at Hockanum Elementary and Silver Lane Elementary in East Hartford, Conn.

The UConn student-athletes took part in an after school program to help the students with homework, studying principles, and reading assignments. Following the academics, the Huskies participated in art projects and helped out with a physical education class and group activities.

The men's and women's tennis programs consistently volunteer their time with several youth organizations and local schools. Last year, the Huskies hosted the Polaris School on campus for a day of events show what life is like at UConn for student-athletes and to allow the students at the Polaris School to have a chance to experience UConn Country. The Polaris Center has evolved into a comprehensive treatment center offering quality educational and clinical programming for adolescents throughout the state of Connecticut
