Clark takes IC4A title in the mile.

BOSTON, Mass.- The University of Connecticut men's track and field team concluded the IC4A Championships in second place with junior Joe Clark (West Islip, N.Y.) reaching the top tier of the podium for the mile as he crossed the finish line in 4:03.82. The Huskies registered 59 points for their silver medal as Cornell captured first with 74.
Sophomore Darnell Cummings (Millbrook, N.Y.) registered a 21.38 in the 200 meter dash for a fifth place finish, while freshman Selwyn Maxwell (Monroe, N.Y.) concluded the 60 meter hurdles in the semifinals with a time of 8.20.
UConn's relay teams put forward two top-five seats with the 4x800 relay (Chris Dailey, Phil Caldwell, Paul DeSalvo and Alex Bennatan) grabbing fifth with a time of 7:31.78 and the DMR squad (Bennatan, Kyle Twombly, James Agati and Scott Johnson) placing fourth with a time of 9:54.23.
On the field, junior Noel James (Whitman, Mass.) added sixth points to UConn's total tallying a third place finish in the high jump with 2.17m. Also, teammate Toby Belton registered a jump of 1.99m.
Sophomore Eric Masington (Trevose, Pa.) was the top Husky in the shot put finishing sixth (17.06m), while senior captain Mike Alleman (Scotch Plains, N.J.) was 12th (16.26m) and freshman John Wlasuk (Newtown, Conn.) was 14th (16.02m).
The Huskies saw great success in the heptathlon with three finishing in the top-ten as junior captain Jake Waruch (Kerhonkson, N.Y.) took second with 5,286 points, sophomore Jesse Chapman (East Thetford, Vt.) in sixth with 5,032 points and junior captain Ben Waruch (Kerhonkson, N.Y.) in seventh with 5,031 points.
