    ALBANY, N.Y. – The University of Connecticut men’s track and field team concluded its fourth annual meet with the University of Albany on Saturday, finishing in second with a final score of 90-73 in favor of the Great Danes. Connecticut finished with eight first place finishes on the day, including a pair of wins by senior captain Eric Masington.

    Hayes led UConn in both the 100 and 200m runs, finishing the former in 10.80 seconds and the latter in a time of 22.22 for second place. Masington paced the Huskies in both the discus (52.29m) and shot put ( 15.72m).

    Robert Rhodes won the 400m in 49.45. Robert Hovanec finished in second with a time of 49.59.

    In the 5,000m, three Huskies placed in the top four. Bryan Fowler grabbed gold in 15:27.79 while Ned Wilson took home silver in a time of 15:32.49. Stephen Vento rounded out the top four with a 15:38.93 finish. A trio of Huskies also filled the top six, led by a third place result from Nicholas Bertolini (4:02.82) followed by James Agati, who clocked 4:05.33. Michael O’Donnell slid into sixth place with a time of 4:08.04.

    Randall Wall posted UConn’s top finish in a hurdle event on the day. He finished second in the 110m hurdles with a time of15.18. Jesse Chapman grabbed fourth in the same event with a 15.31 showing. James Lowe took home fifth and Patrick Meyer earned sixth.

    In the field events, the Huskies excelled in the jumps. Tobey Belton grabbed second place in the high jump after clearing 1.94m. In the long jump, a pair of Huskies posted a two-three finish. Kris Horn captured second with a leap of 6.78m. Harley Lacroix soared for 6.74m to earn the bronze medal, while Chapman and John Landis earned fifth and seventh place, respectively.

    The triple jump belonged to Connecticut, as Lacroix added a first place finish to his day with a distance of 14.11m. Treval Hatcher grabbed second with a 14.01m effort while Amanze Williams took fourth with a jump of 13.84m. Landis added an eight place finish to round out the UConn effort in the triple jump.

    Chapman also finished in third in the shot put with a 13.66m throw. He grabbed sixth place in the discus behind Masington’s first place finish and Matthew Graziano’s second place launch of 48.47m.

    Oluwatosin Edwards grabbed first place in the hammer throw with a distance of 51.64m. Masington also posted a fifth place finish in the event with a 35.70m effort.

    Brian Eilers accounted for another of UConn’s top finishes in the javelin throw, launching a distance of 56.65m. Adam Boucher took home second place with a throw of 53.11m. Jesse Chapman and Patrick Meyer grabbed fourth and sixth, respectively.

    Connecticut will travel to Athens, Georgia to compete in the Specs Town Invitational on Saturday, April 12.
