PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The University of Connecticut men’s track and field team concluded the second day at the 118th annual Penn Relays on Friday at the world famous Franklin Field. Junior Noel James (Whitman, Mass.) led the squad with a 2.12m (6-11.5) leap in the high jump to conquer the title in the College Men's High Jump Eastern.
Sophomore Eric Masington (Trevose, Pa.) claimed fourth place in the College Men's Shot Put Eastern with a toss of 16.48m (54-1). Masington then went on to finish 12th in the College Men's Discus Throw College following a throw of 48.90m (160-5).
Kevin Steinberg (Langhorne, Pa.), Kevin Smith (Slingerlands, N.Y.), Darnell Cummings (Millbrook, N.Y.) and Jesse Drinks (Ossinging, N.Y.) qualified for Saturday’s 4x100 Championship after posting a time of 41.63 on Friday.
On Saturday, senior captain Kyle Duggan (Staten Island, N.Y.) finished sixth (4.90m (16-0.75)) in the College Men's Pole Vault Championship.
