UConn Completes Day One At Conference Championship

TAMPA, Fla. - The Huskies entered day two of the 2014 American Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday afternoon in Tampa, Fla. A rainy Friday made for challenging conditions but the student-athletes powered through for some strong performances.

The Huskies had only two athletes compete in scored events on Friday, giving the team six points headed into the second day of competition.

Ned Wilson paced the Huskies in the 10,000M run to pick up all six of UConn's first day points. Wilson crossed the finish line in 31:22.45 to take home third place.

Oluwatosin Edwards competed for UConn in the hammer throw, recording a heave of 49.50m to finish in tenth place.

UConn's multi-event athletes were hard at work in the decathlon. Jesse Chapman finished first in both the high jump and the shot put. The senior recorded a third place finishes in the 400m dash. He entered day two with 3,576 points to lead the Huskies.
