PISCATAWAY, N.J.- Freshman William Thomas (Wakefield, RI) won the decathlon and junior Corey Pusey (Vernon, CT) captured the shot put Saturday to help propel the University of Connecticut into fourth place with 34 points after the second day of competition at the 2001 BIG EAST Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Thomas totaled 7,303 points in winning the decathlon. Thomas took the lead in the decathlon's third event, the shot put, and led for the remainder of the 10-event competition.
