STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut men’s track and field team will hit the road for the first time of the 2013 campaign as they head to the Yale Invite on Saturday. Events are set to begin at 9 a.m. with the last event slated to kickoff at 5:20 p.m.
The Huskies are coming off a dominating performance at home where the team registered 10 first place finishes as Connecticut won the UConn Winter Opener by a score of 83-21 over Southern Connecticut.
Connecticut has historically found great success at the Yale Invite with the team grabbing six first places in 2012 and seven first places in 2011.
With 17 five-year and four-year student-athletes on the Connecticut roster the veteran leadership is a force to be reckoned with. Senior thrower Josh Faboyede set a personal best in the weight throw (18.79m) at the opening meet, while Cory Duggan and Kevin Smith each set a Greer Field House record in the pole vault (15-11.75) and in the 55m dash (6.40 –PB), respectively.
