Wilson Leads UConn Into New Year At Yale Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - For the first time of the new year, the University of Connecticut men's track and field team was in action Saturday at the Yale Invitational. No team scores were kept at the meet, but 24 UConn athletes placed within the top five, including three first place perfomances.

In the mile, All-American Dan Wilson (Sr., West Haven, CT) finished first in the fastest time of any UConn athlete this season, 4:11.35, while teammate Eric Fleckenstein (Fr., Port Jefferson, NY) who took third in a career best 4:20. 82. Laban Marsh (Jr., Toms River, NJ) also took top honors in the 55m dash in a time of 6.45, his best time of the year. Following behind Marsh was Chris Charles (Fr., Park Ridge, NJ) who placed second in 6.49. Charles would go on to show his versatility by placing third in the triple jump with a leap of 43'7 UConn's final first place showing came from Chris Mazza (Fr. Toms River, NJ) who cleared 14' 6 in the pole vault.

On January 19, UConn will travel to Boston, MA for the New England Challenge Cup Finals. A season ago, the Huskies dominated the field as they took first place with 135 points. The next closest competitor was Brown with 88.5.
