STORRS, Conn.-The men’s track and field team will travel to the Great Dane Classic held at the Armory in the New York, N.Y. on Friday, Jan. 20. The Huskies have been extremely successful the first three meets of the season with the most recent success coming at the Yale Invite where UConn claimed six first place finishes.

The Huskies look to enter Friday’s competition and continue their dominant performances under the guidance of their four captains, senior Mike Alleman, senior Kyle Duggan and juniors Ben and Jake Waruch.

Alleman has registered two first place finishes in the shot put in his first two meet’s, while Duggan has also recorded two first place finishes in the pole vault. Jake Waruch took home the title at the UConn Heptathlon and Ben completed the heptathlon in third.

In addition to Connecticut’s strong leaders, the Huskies have a solid core of underclassmen, including freshman Amanze Williams who broke the all-time school record in the long jump at his first ever collegiate meet with a leap of 7.61m.

Check back tomorrow evening for the recap and results at the Great Dane Classic.
