STORRS, Conn. (February 8, 2006) - The University of Connecticut men’s track and field team will head to Boston, Mass. for the St. Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University, this weekend as a final tune up before the BIG EAST Indoor Championship.

After a second place finish at the tri-meet with Penn State and Princeton last weekend in which two Huskies provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship, members of the UConn squad will use this weekend to focus on their individual events. There will be no team scoring at the meet. Throughout the days leading up to the meet, each UConn athlete will be meeting with their event coaches in order to focus on what needs to be done in order for the team to be completely prepared for the upcoming BIG EAST Championship.

UConn will be competing against a large, quality field made up of both collegiate and club teams from around the Northeast. Host Boston University, as well as schools such as Boston College, Tufts, Providence College, Maine, Yale, Johns Hopkins and Brown, will all be competing at the meet.

The St. Valentine Invitational will be held at the Track and Tennis Center on the campus of Boston University. Events are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, with the field events kicking off the day. Following the conclusion of all events, a recap and complete results can be found on UConnHuskies.com.
