James Named BIG EAST Field Athlete Of The Week

STORRS, Conn. - University of Connecticut men's track and field sophomore, Noel James (Whitman, Mass.) was named the BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week for the period of Feb. 7-13 after winning the high jump at the Lafayette-Rider Invitational last weekend. James' performance was one of six victories for the Huskies during the meet, leading UConn to yet another dominating performance during the 2010-11 indoor season.

James recorded his fifth IC4A qualifying mark of the season last Friday, winning the high jump with a clearance of 2.04 meters. The victory was the fourth on the season for James, as he has also won the event at the Yale Intercollegiate Track Classic (Jan. 15), The Great Dane Invitational (Jan. 21) and The Saturday Night at the Armory meet (Jan. 29).

Next up for James and the Huskies is the BIG EAST Indoor Championship which will take place this Saturday (Feb. 19) and Sunday (Feb. 20). The meet will take place in Akron, Ohio at the Stile Athletics Field House on the University of Akron campus.
