Huskies Look For Third Championship Crown in Three Weeks

STORRS, Conn.- The UConn men’s track and field team has captured back-to-back championships titles in the past two weekends, first reaching the top of the podium at the BIG EAST Championships followed by a title at the New England Championships. The Huskies will look to grab their third crown in as many weeks when they compete at this weekend’s IC4A Championships in Boston on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s events are slated to begin at 10 a.m. and Sunday’s events will start at 9:30 a.m.

The Huskies most recent outing resulted in the squad’s eighth consecutive New England crown as UConn had now won the past 13 of 14 years. Connecticut finished with six first places, including Cory Duggan capturing first place in the pole vault with a personal best jump of 5.26 meters which is currently the best leap of the season in the BIG EAST.

The second day at the regional meet featured a plethora of personal bests with 12 Huskies setting new career highs. Selwyn Maxwell and Kyle Twombly each posted PBs en route to first place finishes in the 60 meter hurdles and the 500 meter dash, respectively. Adding another first place was Josh Faboyede in the weight throw.
