Men's Track and Field Completes Day One at LSU Relays

BATON ROUGE, La. (March 28, 2008) - The University of Connecticut men's track and field team completed day one at the LSU Relays Friday. Highlights from the first day included Marquis Thomas (Mattapan, Mass.) finishing second in the high jump with a NCAA regional qualifying height of 6-10.75. Basil Campbell (Ewing, N.J.) recorded a NCAA regional qualifying time in the 110-meter high hurdles, finishing second in the preliminaries with a time of 14.11 seconds.

Andrew Dubs (Holland, Pa.) was the third Husky to post an NCAA regional qualifying mark as he finished third in the shot put with a throw of 57-6.25. That toss was a new career high for him.

Daniel Hutcherson (New London, Conn.) placed third in the high jump, right behind Thomas, clearing 6-8.75. Verrol Jackson (Schenectady, N.Y.) will join Campbell in the 110-meter high hurdle final, as he finished third in the prelims with a time of 14.22 seconds. Campbell qualified for the 100-meter final with a second place time of 10.41 seconds in the preliminaries.
