Men's Track To Compete In First Scored Meet Of The Outdoor Season This Weekend

STORRS, Conn. (March 29, 2006) - After a week off from competition, the University of Connecticut men’s track and field team heads back to Florida this weekend to compete in a four-way meet at the University of South Florida on Saturday, April 1.

In their first scoring meet of the year, the Huskies begin the core of their season and their push for a 2006 Outdoor BIG EAST Championship to go along with the Indoor Championship that they won in February.

Said Head Coach Greg Roy, “This meet begins our real season and the drive toward a BIG EAST title. Being the first scored meet of the season, we are looking to bring the whole team together and compete well this weekend.”

The meet, held at the USF Track and Soccer Stadium on the campus of the University of South Florida in Tampa, Fla.. will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday with the hammer throw and events will run through 3:30 p.m. The teams that will be participating in the meet in addition to UConn are the University of South Florida, the University of Mississippi and Florida A&M University.
