    STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut men's track and field team will be spread out this weekend competing in two meets over 1,000 miles apart from each other. Eighteen Huskies will head down to the University of Georgia for the Spec Towns Invitational while another 13 athletes compete at the Brown Invitational in Providence, R.I.

    At the Spec Towns Invitational UConn will take on some tough competition in Purdue, Illinois, South Carolina, and Boston University.

    Action will kick off on Thursday and Friday at the Bulldog Decathlon. The Huskies will have three strong competitors taking part in the decathlon in freshman Ben and Jake Waruch (Kerhonkson, N.Y.) and senior captain Sean Smith (Scotch Plains, N.J.).

    Then the Spec Towns Invitational will begin on Friday, April 10 where hammer throw and triple jump will go off. Competing in the hammer for the Huskies is sophomore Greg Manzolillo (Rocky Hill, Conn.) while junior Jamaal Smith (Albany, N.Y.) will take on the triple jump competition.

    In day two of Spec Towns, the rest of the team will compete. On the track side of things, UConn will be competing in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 400 IH, 110 HH and the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. On the field side of things, UConn will have athletes competing in all of the field events.

    At the Brown Invitational, that will take place on Saturday, April 11, UConn will bring 13 of its athletes to compete in 13 different events. UConn will be running in six track events as well as taking part in seven field events on the day. The meet is non-scoring.
