Huskies Perform Well at Penn Relays and Wildcat Invitational III

PHILADELPHIA, PA/DURHAM, NH (April 24) - The University of Connecticut men's track and field team performed well at two different meets over the weekend, winning one event and taking five top-five finishes at the Penn Relays, and earning five first-place finishes at the New Hampshire Wildcat Invitational III to take second place as a team.

Mark Godoy won the College Men Eastern Triple Jump with a mark of 14.74 meters at the Penn Relays, an annual meet in Philadelphia, Pa. drawing athletes from all over the country.  John Barth took third in the College Men Hammer Throw event with a mark of 59.57 meters (195-5), and Paul Pisano came in third in the College Men Javelin Throw Championships with a distance of 71.91 meters (235-11).

The Huskies placed second in the College Men Distance Medley Relay, and sixth in the College Men Shuttle Hurdles Championships of America.

UConn finished second as a team at the Wildcat Classic III with 138 points.  The host school, New Hampshire, won the meet with 149.50 points.

Earning wins for the Huskies were Aaron Isaacs in the hammer throw, Calvin Rhodes in the 400-meter hurdles, Joel Legare in the 1500 Meter Run, Mike Delgado in the 110-meter hurdles, and the 4x100-meter relay team.

Overall, the Huskies took 17 top-five finishes at New Hampshire.

UConn will return to action at the BIG EAST Championships to be held from April 30-May 2 at Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J.
