Pisano and Legare Claim Individual Titles at IC4A Championships

The Huskies earned 28.5 points to place 11th of the 54 teams represented at the meet. Army earned first place with 50 points, and Rutgers came in second with 48.75 points.

Pisano shattered his own school record with a throw of 77.47 meters (254-2) to claim the individual title in the javelin. The mark is also the second-best throw this season among all Division I athletes, and is just 0.2 meters short of the top mark of 77.67 meters set by Brian Chaput of Pennsylvania.

Legare took first in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:49.93, after placing second in the preliminaries with a time of 1:49.15. Logan Jones (Dorchester, Mass.) also qualified for the finals of the 800-meter run, and finished seventh with a time of 1:52.43.

Other top-10 finishers for UConn were Jake Radzevich (Hampstead, N.H.) who tied for seventh in the pole vault, Chris Mazza (Toms River, N.J.) who placed ninth in the same event, Aaron Isaacs (Danbury, Conn.) who placed 10th in the hammer throw and Joe DiCola (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) who finished ninth in the decathlon.

Pisano, Jones, Legare, Brian Egy (Franklin, Mass.), Dan Hutcherson (New London, Conn.) and John Barth (South Kingstown, R.I.) have all qualified to compete in the NCAA Regional Championships in Gainesville, Fla. on May 28-29.
