Men's Track Kicks Off Indoor Season; Names Team Captains

BOSTON – The UConn men’s track and field team kick off the 2017-2018 indoor season at Boston University Opener at the Boston University Track and Field Center.

Heading into the opening meet of the indoor season, head coach Greg Roy annouced that Trent Beram, Seth Zuidema and Mike O’Donnell have been named captains for the upcoming season.

The Huskies closed out the 2016-2017 season with second place finishes in the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championship and IC4A Championships.

The Huskies return All-Conference performers from last year’s squad in, O'Donnell, Eric Van Der Els and Malik Snead.  In the mile, O'Donnell captured the silver medal with time of 4:12.63 and freshman Van Der Els garnered the bronze with a time of 4:13.09.  O’Donnell was last season’s IC4A mile champion, running in 4:04.60.



Snead earned silver in the triple jump at last season's conference meet.

After Saturday’s opener at BU, the Huskies will close out the fall semester by hosting the UConn Heptahlon in the Hugh S. Greer Field House on Thursday and Friday, December 7 and 8.
