KINGSTON, R.I. - Three members of the University of Connecticut men's track and field team were in competition Friday at the Rhody Pentathlon hosted by the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, RI. The meet included three teams, which comprised the field of seven athletes.

Mike Boney (Jr., East Haven, CT) was the high finisher for the Huskies as he took second by amassing 3,367 points. The score bettered Boney's previous personal record in the event, 3,185, which he posted a season ago at the New England Championships on his way to a sixth place performance. Also competing were newcomers Jim McKirdy (Fr., Woodbury, CT) and Will Thomas (Fr., Wakefield, RI). McKirdy finished one spot behind Boney in third with 3,255 points, while Thomas took fifth with 2,966.

UConn will return to competition on Jan. 13, 2001, as they travel to New Haven, CT for the Yale Invitational.
